A Jar of Sand Dollars

 Hello there,

Lately I have been playing with Elizabeth Craft Designs' Mason Jar die.  Today I share with you a shorter version of the jar, and I made it into a shaker card.

Here's a look of the flip side.

I glue two sand dollars back to back so both sides are finished.  However, the front side is clear embossed and the back side just stamped.  And for the back panel, I used the "snow" die from the Jar die set as stencil and ink blended to look like water hiting the sand (on the beach). The star fish is embossed and watercolored.

Challenges:

I am not sure how to categorize my shaker card, so I will label it as Mixed Media.  I did use ink, embossing powder and watercolors.

Supplies:

Elizabeth Craft Designs Mason Jar (Snow Globe Special)
Ranger Distress Inks (Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Chipped Sapphire, Broken China, Tumbled Glass)
Ranger Distress Glaze (Antique Linen)
Ranger Archival Ink (Acorn)
Versamark Watermark Ink
Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set

Thanks for visiting.  Have a sweet day!

Lotus and Koi

 Happy Saturday everyone!

It's crafting time!  😁  I made another mini slimline card today.

First time using my Hero Floral Lotus Stamp set.  I stamped and watercolored the flower and leaves on a light weight mix media paper, then die cut.  I use the same weight paper and trimmed a card base and watercolored and stamped the background (water and Koi).  And I hand drew some stems for the flower and leaves, and some underwater grass. I also used a white gel pen to highlight the surface of the water. I glue the lotus flower and leaves in the last step to complete the card.

Made a Fun Fold on Die Cut Divas

Happy February 1st!!

Our new challenge at Die Cut Divas is ready for you, are you ready for it?  Challenge theme this month is: Fun Fold.  Our sponsor is Hero Arts, challenge winner would receive a $25 gift card to the Hero Arts store.

For my project, I made a twisted easel card.

I've combined two Hero Arts stamp sets, Color Layering Seahorse and Sea You Soon.  I first cover my card base with a pattern paper that's very watercolor like.  And I did some light stamping of the star fish from the Sea You Soon stamp set.  Then I stamped, added watercolors and hand cut the Sea Horse and a few other shells and arrange them on the main circle die and the sentiment banner like I did in the photo.

I also added a few sequins for embellishment.  Here's a look at the card when it is closed.

The subtle shine from the shimmering watercolors are difficult to photograph, but you could catch a small glimpse here in the close up shot.

Now it's your turn to create a Fun Fold card and join in the fun.  Link up here.  Can't wait to see what you'll come up with!!

And I am linking this card to challenges:

Christmas Cards 2020-Nov-24

Hi and welcome back!

I finally finished the cards created using the last two colorings for the 11 Day Coloring Challenge.

This simple watercolored moose now lives in a faux shaker card.  Yes you heard me right!  LOL  For my international cards, I'd like to minimize the bulkiness and thickness so I avoid anything that have too many layers.  But I do want some fun in these cards too.  Hence my faux shaker card.

Remember this moose?  From my day 10 coloring.

Now it is here.

The snowflakes are glue down on the bottom layer of my snowglobe which is vellum, sealed on top is thin acetate.  I modified the Lawn Fawn Magic Iris Snowglobe add-on die to make my snowglobe.  Since I didn't need foam adhesive, the card is relatively flat for mailing.

Challenges for this card:

Supplies:

Lawn Fawn Magic Iris Snow Globe add-on Die
Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles Die
Hero Arts Wooland Set by Lia Stamp & Cut
Hero Arts Winter Cheer Tag by Lis Stamp & Cut

Ranger Acorn Archival Ink
Versamark Watermark Ink
Ranger Super Fine Detail White Emobssing Powder
Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set

The watercolored panel I did on day 11 of the challenge, I cut up and made two cards.

Christmas Tags 2019-Jul-24

Hello and welcome back!

Instead of sharing Christmas cards in this post I am sharing some tags.  These would be handy to use during the holiday season.  I am pretty happy how they turned out, so I would make more!  :D

I die cut the tags using Cas-ual Friday Scallop Tag Fri-Dies.  And made four different styles.

For this tag, I simply stamped (Happy Little Stamps Merry Kissmas) and colored.  To create some visual depth, I used both light and dark ink for the outline and different shades of reds.  The greeting is stamped in black and I added an die cut bow (Hero Arts Ornament Infinity Die) that is made up by two die cuts glued together in an offset fashion.  I also coated the berries in Sprinkled Sugar Stickles which does not show up in the photo.

For this one, I stamped the wreath (Winner & Walter Bloom: Hollie's Festive Floral) in distress ink, but clear heat embossed the red berries.  The pine cones (Hero Arts Vintage Christmas Post Stamp & Frame Cut) are stamped and colored in pencils, and embellished with Platinum Stickles.  The greeting is stamped in Walnut Stain and clear embossed.

For the third tag, I stamped the background using Cas-ual Friday Stamp Starlequin.  And then layered the poinsettia stamped using Hero Arts Color Layering Poinsettia.

My last tag is similar to the third, instead of a stamped background, I dry embossed it using Kaiser Craft Wood Grain Embossing Folder.  And used a gold leafing pen to edge the poinsettia and leaves.

Color Layering Koi Art Journal/Calendar page on a2z

Hello,

I think the best way to finishing off the month is to prepare for the next one.  :)  Yes I am sharing my February's Art Journal/Calendar pages on a2z Scrapbooking Supplies.

I used the Hero Arts Color Layering Koi for my pages and my reason is this.  Chinese New Year (also known as Lunar New Year) falls on the 5th of February this year and Fish is a symbol we often used in Chinese New Year decoration.  Because the word Fish in Chinese sounds the same as the word Surplus or Excess, we often wish other 'having surplus every year'.  And we always serve a fish dish in the Chinese New Year dinner.

Alright story aside, here's my project.

I cut myself a wavy mask/stencil and applied Tumbled Glass ink using inking tool for the 'water'.  Then I stamped the Koi, the waterlilies around the lined area in various inks including some Glimmer Metallic Gold ink (on the red fish).

Supplies:

Hero Arts Ombre Ink Pad (Butter Bar to Orange, Pink to Red)
Hero Arts Shadow Ink Pad (Ultra Pink, Soft Granite)
Memories Dye Ink (Soft Grey)
Ranger Distress Ink Pad (Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Peeled Paint, Crushed Olive)
Memento Dye Ink Pad (Tuxedo Black)

Thanks for visiting.  I wish you a lovely day.

Color Layering Poinsettia Trio on a2z

Happy Sunday!

I must say I am doing pretty well in building up my Christmas Cards Stash this year.  Today I share three cards on a2z Scrapbooking Supplies.

I have other poinsettia stamps already, but when I saw the Hero Arts Color Layering Poinsettia Stamps and Frame cut, I just could not resist!  LOL   Right after I got them I tried different color combinations, the reds ones were easy.  But it took me many tries to get the white/yellow ones to my liking.  So let's see this one first.

Colors for the poinsettia are (base, middle, top): Ranger Distress Squeezed Lemonade, Lemon Yellow (from Jayne's Fall Color), Lime Green (from Amy's Shades of Green).

And I used a paint brush to add some Perfect Pearl solution for the shimmery highlights on the petals, and used Liquid Pearl for the center.

The sentiment is stamped in Ranger Distress Crushed Olive and clear heat embossed.  The decorative strip is part of a panel I did by painting wide strips of Glimmer Metallic Gold ink across a white panel with a flat toothed watercolor brush.  I cut up my panel and used on all three cards.

Colors for this poinsettia are (base, middle, top): Ranger Distress Barn Door, Hero Arts Mid-tone Shadow Red Royal, Ranger Distress Vintage Photo.  The flower center is painted with Glimmer Metallic Gold Ink.  The sentiment is stamped in Ranger Distress Peeled Paint and clear heat embossed.

On this last one, the sentiment is gold heat embossed but it was kind of lost, so I used a marker and added shadow to make it stand out.  Instead of sequins I added dots of Glimmer Metallic Gold Ink.

Here's a couple close up you could see the glimmer and shine.

Group shot Here.
