Altenew July 30 Days of Crafting Challenge (Day 26)

 Hello there,

It's been many days since my last post, well I have been keeping myself out of troubles by playing along Altenew July 30 Days of Crafting.  And I am adding my own twist to the challenge, instead of making cards, I have been creating in my 6x6 inches art journal.

My page for today's prompt: Day 26 - use ombre ink blending on a sentiment or background.

Instead of inking horizontally, I did it vertically; and I really like how it turned out.

Thinking of You on Die Cut Divas

 Hi,

I am back with another Flower theme inspiration project on Die Cut Divas today.

It's has been many years since I had the idea of documenting my garden and the flowers in it by the means of a scrapbook album.  Somehow many suns and moons have passed, I just never got around to do it.  But today, today I decided to start, not a scrapbook album, but an art journal.  My intention is to make a page for each of the flowers I have and had.  I am starting with the Pansies.

On a colored mix media paper panel I did some ink blending.  I took a couple sentiment stamps from Altenew Build-A-Flower: Coral Charm and stamped with archival ink.  Next I applied Volume Paste thru a stencil in selected areas.

While this dries, I die cut and water colored the Pansies flowers and leaves. Adding details with coloring pencils.

Once the background is completely dried, i distressed the edges slightly, then adhered the Pansies onto the page.  To truly make it my own, I hand wrote "thinking of", the meaning of the Pansies in Chinese on to upper right hand corner.

Our April challenge theme on Die Cut Divas is Flowers, and our generous sponsor, Altenew is giving a $50 gift card to the challenge winner.

Supplies used for my project:

Simple Stories Doily Stencil
Stamperia Volume Paste
Ranger Distress Ink (Peeled Paint, Weathered Wood, Uncharted Mariner, Vintage Photo, Seedless Preserve)
Ranger Archival Ink (Acorn)
Black Marker
Prismacolor Coloring Pencils

---

I really like how this turns out.  Now that I've got the flower theme art journal started, I will keep it up and share my future pages with you.

Thanks for coming over, I wish you a fabulous day!

Creations Scrapbook Centrale Creative Team Project 2024-Oct-13

 Hello,

I am sharing a mixed media art journal cover on Creations Scrapbook Centrale fb group page today.

I started by glueing patterned rice paper on the cover.  Then I applied some Primer with a brayer, stenciled with crackle pasted, colored with ink and distress crayon, stenciled with volume paste, and stamped text to build up all the layers.

My focal point is the die cut paint brush.  I adhered both hand cut and die cut butterflies and positioned them to make it look like they are flying out from the brush's bristles.

Products used for my project are shown in photos below.

Thanks for coming over to my blog.  I wish you a sweet day!

Creations Scrapbook Centrale Creative Team project 2024-Sep-23

 Hello,

I am sharing a very neat journaling page today on Creations Scrapbook Centrale fb group page today.

I stamped and watercolored a panel, applied a bit of drops and ink splatter, and added the sentiment strip and die cut butterfly.  And that's it.  I just simply enjoyed the process of the water-coloring.

Creations Scrapbook Centrale Creative Team Project 2024-Apr-16

 Happy Tuesday everyone,

I am very excited to share my art journaling page today because I tried a very fun technique called 'toilet paper casting'.  Do a search on YouTube, there are plenty videos to inspire you.

This is my team project for the Creations Scrapbook Centrale FB group.  Our April challenge theme is The Ocean/Sea Mysteries, and/or the color: Turquois.

I started my page by spraying some Ocean Gloss Spray, then I used Turquois Scribble Stick to add some more colors, then I stenciled with Blue Lagoon Shimmer Paint.  Next I added some Round Art washi tape, then I stenciled with Crackle Paste.

Uh oh, here comes a problem, the crackle paste did not stick on the surface of the washi.  After the paste dried, all the ones overlay the washi tape fell off!  So I stamped some text with black archival ink and carried on.  I hand cut the sea horses from patterned paper, and adhere them with gel medium.  Then stamped the sentiment with archival ink.

Next come the very fun part of the project.  Yes, the toilet paper casting.  I used a large sea shell I collected from a past trip.  After layered the toilet paper (spritzed with water each time, and pound with a blunt brush) over the top of the shell, I let it dry overnight.

I peeled off the casting and this is what I found:

The details are quite nice.  But wait, the underside is even better.

I trimmed the excess paper from the edges, and splattered some  Aquamarine and Gold Pearl metallic watercolor on it.  Then I glue it on the page with a real pearl on it.  I was going to use an art pearl, but didn't have one that size.  So I used one I took off from a bracelet too large from my wrist.

Et voila!

I absolutely love how this page turned out even with the little mishap along the way.

The supplies I used are shown in the photos below (except the Altenew Metallic Watercolor):

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Scrapbook Centrale Creative Team Project 2024-Feb-06

 Hi,

I am sharing my February's planner page on Creations Scrapbook Centrale FB group today.

Our February challenge theme is: Valentine/Friendship and/or the color Red/Pink.  I used a sheet of ECD's Bellerose Pink pattern paper pack for the background.  I adhered the calendar and note elements, then I embellished with some hand cut flowers (from Mintay paper) and floral heart die cut (Hero Arts Floral Heart Stamp & Cut).  The heart die cut was cut with Sizzix Iridescent Opulent Cardstock.  I love how the color changes when you hold it at different angle towards the light.

Here's photos of the supplies I used from my planner page:

I used the negative piece from the panel I die cut the floral heart and created a second project.  Don't you love it when you could die cut once and make two cards?!

I made a shaker card out of it.  The birds, birdhouse, and flowers are hand cut from the same Mintay pattern paper.  And since one of my New Year craft resolutions is make matching envelope for my cards, I die cut the floral heart using red shade vellum and adhere it to the envelope flap.

There you have it.  Have a wonderful day!!

Sakura Art Journal on Die Cut Divas

 Hi,

I am sharing an art journal page featuring Altenew Stunning Sakura bundle (stamp, stencil, and die).

When it was first released in March 2023, I knew right away that's a set I want for my travelling album.  I bought it and it's been waiting for me to use.  Long story short, travelling album on the back burner, but I made a simple art journal page with it.

The substrate was dry embossed and ink blended with Crushed Olive and Tumbled Glass in an ombre fashion.  Then I adhere the cherry blossoms and frame.

The cherry blossoms were stamped in black, inked with matching stencils, and die cut.  Inside the New Day Heart Frame die, I adhere a little panel (framed with black) stamped with an older Altenew set: Under The Cherry Blossom Tree.

I hope you enjoy my page, and that I've inspired you to come and join in our December challenge on Die Cut Divas Challenge blog.  Theme this month: Flowers.  Pull out your favorite floral stamps and have some fun.  Remember to use your die cut machine during the process in order to qualify for the draw.

More details could be found on Die Cut Divas.

Scrapbook Centrale Creative Team Project - Mysterious Halloween

 Halloooooo!

I am sharing a Scrapbook Centrale Creative Team project with the theme of Mysterious Halloween.

I created an art journal page.  I basically started with the swirl foamie stamp, then I added some 'mysterious' eyes.  I stamped the cat, but the color was too pale, so I painted over it with a brighter color, and just keep adding layers of black swirls and other elements.

I stamped and stencil a 'wall' for the cat to sit on.  I drew a spider web with white gel pen, and used black gel pen and stencil for the letters and numbers (on the wall).

Supplies used shown in photographs below.

Thanks for stopping by.  Wishing a fun day!

Scrapbook Centrale Creative Team Project 2023-Sep-09

 Hello,

I am sharing an art journaling layout inspired by a film, The Sound of Music.  Our Scrapbook Centrale FB page challenge theme this month is: Cinema/Films.

The Sound of Music is the very first foreign movie I've ever saw.

I was quite young at that time, and I don't remember much of the event then, the only image that imprinted in my brain is Julia Andrews carrying her suitcase and guitar making her way to the Captain's house.  Of course I've watched this movie multiple times since then.  And it remains as one of my favorite movie at all times.

Here's the main supplies I used for my project:

Thanks so much for visiting me.  I wish a sweet day!

Scrapbook Centrale Creative Team Project 2023-Aug-30

 Hello there,

I am presenting to you my Scrapbook Centrale Creative Team project, a simple journaling page.  Most of time when I start a journaling page, I tend to think mix media and multiple layers.  But it's a simple one today.

Our August challenge theme is: Animal/Insects.

For the background, I usedd Stampers Anonymous Bubbles Cling Stamp.  I first inked with various distress inks, then spritz with water, and placed my watercolor journaling panel onto it to absorb the colors.  After that dried, I inked the stamp with Hero Arts mid-tone shadow ink (Soft Granite) and stamp onto the journal panel slightly off-set.  Then I spritzed the bottom of the page with water and let the wet ink dripped down to the bottom edge.

Next I stamped the butterfly with archival black ink.  Then stamped the same butterfly with black Staz-on ink on acetate.  I hand cut the acetate butterfly, bend the wings upward, and adhere the body to the page.  And finally I added Tim Holtz idea-ology label sticker.

Tips:  to make it easier to see the image when hand cutting acetate, adhere a post it note on the back of acetate.  Now you could see clearly.

Supplies used from my project shown in photographs below:

Thanks for coming over.  Have a lovely day!

Scrapbook Centrale Creative Team Project 2023-Jul-21

 Hi,

I am sharing another garden theme project today on Creations Scrapbook Centrale FB page.

My art journal page was inspired by a small event, a beautiful Red Admiral Butterfly came to visit while I was harvesting some vegetable and herbs from my garden.  Besides butterfly, some cute rabbit comes to visit often, and the camera shy Northern Cardinal makes special appearances once in a while.  These are the little happy moments I enjoy!

Besides supplies photographed below, I also used 49 And Market ARToptions Avesta rub-ons and laser cut elements on my journal page.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'd enjoy some happy little moments throughout the day!
