Pen Sketched Flower journal/diary page

Hi crafty friends,

Welcome back to my blog.  Last year I decided to try a planner/art journal project.  But I found that with using the smart phone, the planning part of the project wasn't working out.  So this year I would concentrate on the art journal part and add the diary element to it.

Here's my first layout done using Altenew Pen Sketched Flowers Stamp and Die.

I stamped the flowers on rice paper (also know as mulberry paper), and then watercolored.  The experience is quite different from watercoloring on watercolor paper since the rice paper is quite thin, the water spreads very quickly but not the pigment.

After it dried, I die cut and then adhere to my journal using Matte Medium.  On my journal page I stamped the leaves using distress ink and spritzed with water, I want to create a softer look for the background.  I also spritzed a tiny bit of  Twinkling H2O watercolor (Mango Mamba) over the page.  Next I stamped sentiments, drew the lines on right hand side (yeah can't write straight without lines, lol), and voila, it's ready to go.

Art Journal Class with Tracy Scott

Hi everybody, hope you're enjoying your day!

Yesterday I attended an Art Journal Class at a local craft supply store (Scrapbook Centrale), and Tracy Scott is the instructor!!  We had a fantastic class, the title of the class is Fast and Fabulous Journaling.

No we didn't have to work fast, it was relaxing and she is gentle and sweet.  She gave us very clear instructions and plenty time to complete the steps before moving on.  I had a wonderful time!!  And of course I want to share what I did.  You ready?

I did three double pages.  I haven't done anything quite like it before and I look forward to do more!!  Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day!

Saturday Afternoon Crafting Time

Hello,

I was free this Saturday afternoon to craft and it was fruitful!!  Warning: I've got quite a few photos in this post.

First up I got to practice some of the Zentangle patterns I learnt from Altenew Zentangle For Cardmakers On-line class.  These are the pattern I used in my journal page:  Pokeroot, Zinger, Mooka, Dionaea, and Sprinkle.

I first stamped Altenew Warm Wishes in Picked Raspberry and Peeled Paint on the page to create a frame.  Then I added in the Zentangle patterns.

Then I watercolored the Zentangle patterns.

Next I masked the middle with a round shape and use distress ink to add a subtle background as if I am lying on the ground with plants around looking at the sunny sky.

Lastly I stamped a sentiment from a set call Word Flourish by Autumn Leaves.  I am quite happy how this page turned out.  :)

Next project is another journal page decor, I am loving my Altenew Book Club stamp.  Other than making cards, I am stamping it in my journal too.

I stamped the four corners in black and watercolored.

My last project is a book mark.  I bought a new book and stamp the Book Club stamp in inside and colored with pencils.  The book paper is quite thin, I couldn't use other medium on it.  But the bookmark is made out of watercolor paper, and of course, I watercolored it.  LOL

Well that's all for today.  Thanks for stopping by.

Altenew Academy Paper Crafting and Beyond Class Homework 2

Hi,

I am back with another Altenew on-line class homework.  This time our objective is to create paper rosette(s) for a project of choice.

I believe this is the very first time I make a rosette.  So I was eager to try, but I was stumped for a few days because I am not sure what to do with it.  Then I saw on my desk the Altenew Book Club stamp and die and an idea sparked.  :)

I made a mini rosette to go in the middle of the Book Club stamp image, and this piece will be use to decorate my journal cover.

I stamp and heat emboss the Book Club stamp with Brass EP on watercolor paper, then watercolored it.  Once it dries, I'd die cut it with the matching die.

In the mean time, I worked on my rosette.  The diameter of the circle is 2 inches, so I thought I'd use a one inch wide strip of paper to fold.  At first I didn't want the rosette to be too thick so I score at 1/8 of an inch.  Well that didn't work too well, first of all it was very hard to fold, and second the result is too large (forgot that we need space in the middle).  So I started over but this time I went with 3/4 inch wide paper and fold at 1/4 inch instead.

The piece on the right hand side is the one I used and adhere to my Book Club image piece.  I glued a little flower die cut from the Layered Floral Element Dies set in the middle and added the embossed year, embellished with a few sequins.

I am quite pleasde how it turned out!!  The rosette fitted perfectly!

I am going to link up to these challenge:

Zentangle for Cardmakers Class homework

Happy Saturday everyone.

Today I want to share my homework for the Altenew On-line class, Zentangle for Cardmakers.  Although my project is not a card, I practiced a tangle pattern called Cat-kin.

I stamped one of the floral images from the Under The Cherry Blossom Tree stamp set and added the Cat-kin pattern in a size that would match my flowers.

Here's a close up.  And this point I realize I made a couple of mistakes on the pattern.  Better go back and continue.  :)

So this is after the correction.

Altenew Under The Cherry Blossom Tree
Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set
Hero Arts Ombre Ink Pad (Pink to Red)
Hero Arts Shadow Ink (Soft Granite)

Dainty Bouquet Journal Pages

Hello,

Welcome back.  It's almost half way thru March and I've only finished my March journal/planner page today!!

I was inspired by the field of Tulips and their colors in the inspiration photo of the Altenew March Inspiration Challenge.  I really like how the orange mixes into the red, and that's how I stamp the Dainty Bouquet. I used some watecolor to darken certain areas and added small details.  The month is die cut using orange vellum and adhere using glossy accent.

Challenges:

Supplies:

Hero Arts mid-tone Shadow Ink (Butterbar)
Ranger Distress Ink (Barn Door, Peel Paint, Bundled Sage)
Memories Shadow Ink (Soft Grey)

Thanks for visiting.  I wish you a sweet day!

Color Layering Koi Art Journal/Calendar page on a2z

Hello,

I think the best way to finishing off the month is to prepare for the next one.  :)  Yes I am sharing my February's Art Journal/Calendar pages on a2z Scrapbooking Supplies.

I used the Hero Arts Color Layering Koi for my pages and my reason is this.  Chinese New Year (also known as Lunar New Year) falls on the 5th of February this year and Fish is a symbol we often used in Chinese New Year decoration.  Because the word Fish in Chinese sounds the same as the word Surplus or Excess, we often wish other 'having surplus every year'.  And we always serve a fish dish in the Chinese New Year dinner.

Alright story aside, here's my project.

I cut myself a wavy mask/stencil and applied Tumbled Glass ink using inking tool for the 'water'.  Then I stamped the Koi, the waterlilies around the lined area in various inks including some Glimmer Metallic Gold ink (on the red fish).

Supplies:

Hero Arts Ombre Ink Pad (Butter Bar to Orange, Pink to Red)
Hero Arts Shadow Ink Pad (Ultra Pink, Soft Granite)
Memories Dye Ink (Soft Grey)
Ranger Distress Ink Pad (Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Peeled Paint, Crushed Olive)
Memento Dye Ink Pad (Tuxedo Black)

Thanks for visiting.  I wish you a lovely day.

Greenery Edge Art Journal/Calendar on a2z

Hi everyone,

I am sharing a non-card project on a2z Scrapbooking today.

In the past couple years I was using planners and had a lot of fun decorating them.  But this year I am trying something new, I got a Dylusions Creative Journal, and I am making it a planner/diary/art journal all rolled into one!!  :)

Today I am sharing the January planner page.  I first stamped the circles and drew the lines, these would be my planner entries or reflection/diary entry.  Noticed I didn't put any numbers for the day, I want it to be flexible and only add it when I'd write into it.

Next I created a mask using the Hero Arts Holiday Greenery Edge Die, I used both the negative and positive pieces and applied a light coat of ink for the pages' edge.  Then I stamped the rest of the elements in various inks and added some small details on the butterflies and letters with black and white markers.

My inspiration word for these pages is Hope, therefore 'hopeful 2019'.  I die cut the Classic Numbers using foam and used them to stamp the year.

January's challenge theme at a2z is Anything Goes.  Check out the details and join in the fun.

Hero Arts Mid-Tone Shadow Inks (Red Royal, Wet Cement)

Sketch Flower Journal Page

Hi everybody,

Hope you're having some crafting fun in the weekend.  A few days ago I was trying out some alcohol ink, and alcohol lift ink.  From the panel I was working on I stamped off the lifted ink onto my journal page.  I have since completed the page and I am sharing it here.

The top right corner were the stamp off images (the outlines), and I filled them with using watercolors.  The bottom part is stamped with shadow ink and watercolored.  If you look closely you will see some very tiny speckles of red ink.  This happened when I was spraying ink on the previous page but I miscalculate how far the spray went, but it's a pleasant surprise.

The sentiment encouragement to myself is stamped in black. :)

Supplies used:
Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink (Sunshine Yellow, Sunset Orange, Stream)
