A Card Inspired by Lunar New Year

Happy Lunar New Year of the Snake!

Today I found time to play, and created a card inspired the Chinese dress button.

Since it is the Lunar New Year, I used various shades of red on my card, and of course gold shimmer is a must.

I cute strips of red card stock and did some basic quilling to form the button.

I need a lot more practice, but am happy with today's result.  The front scalloped panel is stamped using an old Stampin' Up woodblock stamp called Boho Blooms.

I am going to link up to:

2024 September Woodblock Wednesday Special Hop on IG

 Hello there,

So nice to see you here.  I am participating in a very fun, very special Woodblock Wednesday IG Hop today.

Why is it so special?  Because we're using Hero Arts owl woodblock stamps, and I am using this one:

I own this stamp since 2008.  So it is very nice to bring it out and give it some inking/coloring love.  Here's today's project.

I first heat embossed Big Own in Platinum on mixed media paper.  Then I watercolored it with metallic watercolors, and hand cut.

I 3D embossed the background with decorative foil, then ink blended the sides.  I made slits on a couple of leaves so I could tug Big Owl in there.  The sentiment is heat embossed in Platinum.  I found the woodblock sentiment stamp from Impression Obsession at a stamp sale just last week, I thought it is perfect for my card.

Amy Tsuruta is the host of the Woodblock Wednesday, get more information about this hop at her blog:  Tsuruta Designs or visit @woodblockwednesday on Instagram.

Supplies used for my card:

Hero Arts Big Owl Woodblock Stamp
Impression Obsession C5546 Owl Be Thankful Woodblock Stamp

Versamark Watermark Ink
WOW Metallic Platinum Super Fine Embossing Powder
Ranger Distress Ink (Peeled Paint, Uncharted Mariner)

Christmas Card 2024-Jul-25

 Hi,

I am sharing a Christmas card created using a woodblock stamp that I own since a LONG while.  It is nice to ink it up again.

I stamped in black and colored with alcohol markers.  And added stickles in some areas.  The sentiment is also stamped in black.  Here's an interesting fact about my card, the background panel is a page from a coloring book that I didn't colored, and I thought it makes a perfect backdrop for my framed Christmas icons.

Woodblock Wednesday March 2023

 Hi,

I am playing along Amy Tsuruta's Woodblack Wednesday challenge today.  It's a fun one where you take out some wood mount stamp and play.

For my project, I used a Penny Black wood mount stamp called Pansy Parade (1841K) dated in the year 2000.

I stamped it on white card stock in Tuxedo Black, and colored with alcohol markers.  I hand cut one right side edge, masked the flowers and stencil the left side.  I added a cool blue grey panel in the underside to provide contrast.  My finished card measures 3 1/2 by 5 3/4 inches.

Supplies:

Penny Black wood mount stamp Pansy Parade (1841K)
Copic Markers
Ranger Distress Ink (Weathered Wood)
Memento Dye Ink (Tuxedo Black)

Thanks for coming over, have a sweet day!

Woodblock Wednesday Jan 2023

 Hi,

I am joining Amy Tsuruta for Woodblock Wednesday today.  I used one of my oldest woodblock stamp (Floating Hearts) sent to me by Hero Arts after I entered their 'mail-in' card challenge even though I didn't win.  Their kind act encouraged me to keep on trying.

I created the main panel with heat embossing, watercoloring, and masking; and matted it with a couple layer of card stock.  Very simple.  But I did add a coat of glossy accent on the red heart.

Woodblock I used are:

Hero Arts Floating Hearts F2818
Hero Arts Old Letter Writing S4878

Other supplies includes:
Hero Arts Mid-tone Shadow ink (Wet Cement)
Versamark Watermark Ink
Brass Embossing Powder
Glossy Accent

Thanks for coming over to my blog.  Have a very good day!!
