Thinking of You Butterflies

 Hi there,

Today's card is brought to you by, a happy accident!!  You see, I was working on a watercolor background like the picture below.

But I am not very happy how it turned out.  I lift it to see what could be done, and when I flipped it over, I saw this.

I like the areas of white and I thought it has movement.  So I used this side of the panel instead. I turned it around so the yellow spot is on top, and added a tiny bit more ink before stamping on it.

I coated the largest butterfly with Nuvo Glitter, added sentiment strips.

I am playing along these challenges:

Supplies:

Ranger Distress Ink (Picked Raspberry, Kitsch Flammingo)
Nuvo Glitter Drops (Flammingo Parade)

It is so nice of you to stop by, have a lovely day!!

New Year, New Me

Hi,

I think I got the mixed media bug!!  Yup made another mixed media project, a card panel that would go into my art journal.

I started with a layer of stamping (of script) in Acorn archival ink, then applied media gloss spray.  This however covered the stamping.  After the panel dried, I did some partial stenciling with embossing paste.  Next I applied more media gloss spray, and stamped 'new year, new me', adhere butterfly which was stamped in black and hand cut.  Lastly I added sticker quotation.

Challenges:

Simon Monday Challenge: Use a New/Unused Product
(my new/unused product is Black Soot archival ink, and Ocean media gloss spray)

Simon Wednesday Challenge: Something New

Christmas Cards 2020-Nov-24

Hi and welcome back!

I finally finished the cards created using the last two colorings for the 11 Day Coloring Challenge.

This simple watercolored moose now lives in a faux shaker card.  Yes you heard me right!  LOL  For my international cards, I'd like to minimize the bulkiness and thickness so I avoid anything that have too many layers.  But I do want some fun in these cards too.  Hence my faux shaker card.

Remember this moose?  From my day 10 coloring.

Now it is here.

The snowflakes are glue down on the bottom layer of my snowglobe which is vellum, sealed on top is thin acetate.  I modified the Lawn Fawn Magic Iris Snowglobe add-on die to make my snowglobe.  Since I didn't need foam adhesive, the card is relatively flat for mailing.

Challenges for this card:

Supplies:

Lawn Fawn Magic Iris Snow Globe add-on Die
Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles Die
Hero Arts Wooland Set by Lia Stamp & Cut
Hero Arts Winter Cheer Tag by Lis Stamp & Cut

Ranger Acorn Archival Ink
Versamark Watermark Ink
Ranger Super Fine Detail White Emobssing Powder
Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set

The watercolored panel I did on day 11 of the challenge, I cut up and made two cards.

Tags or Bookmark

 Hello, and welcome back!

I was so inspired by Anna-Karin's slimline tags that I've made a couple myself.

They measure 2 1/8 by 6 1/8 inches.  I gold heat embossed the image on white mix media paper panel and watercolored.  I partial die cut the top of the panel to create the tag shape.  To finished I splattered some metallic gold ink all over. While I was photographing, a thought came to mind, these slimline tags could double up as bookmarks!  I wanted to link up to the Simon Monday Challenge - Christmas Tags, but sadly I missed the boat! 😞

Hello Beautiful Friend

 Hi everyone,

Hope you're having a crafty weekend!!  I have just received a new stencil - Simon Says Stamp Geo Leaves so I went to play.

I applied Seedless Preserve, Abandoned Coral, and Worn Lipstick thru the stencil and created a "frame" for the sentiment.  I stamped the butterflies with shadow ink so they won't overpower the stenciling, but I heat embossed the butterflies with clear powder to add interest and shine.  The sentiments are stamped in black and clear heat embossed.  Lastly, for a tiny bit more shine I lay the stencil over the stenciled image and applied glitter gel in some random areas.

Peonies Background Hidden Greetings

Hi,

I got some time to play with some new stamp and die I bought using the gift card I received from Simon Says Stamp for being their Guest Designer for the SSS Flickr Challenge in August.

Thank you so much Simon Says Stamp!!

Let's take a look.

The 6x6 Peonies Backgroup Cling Stamp is gorgeous!!  I heat embossed it in Brass on a multi media paper panel, and watercolored.

After eveything is dried I trimmed it into two panels, one standard A2 size panel for the front of my card and another 1 3/8 by 4 1/4 inch panel to decorate the flap of the envelope.

Then I used Simon Says Stamp Perforated Flaps Wafer Dies to die cut the flap on the watercolored panel.  Since the watercolored panel is quite thick I used an exacto knife to cut along the perforated line to facilitate the opening of the flap.

The Peonies Background image is a little busy, and the area where the flap isn't obvious.  So I applied another layer of watercolor over the flap area to make it darker and I also colored in the background of the image in blue.

I white heat embossed some sentiments on a standard A2 size hot pink card panel, and glue the died watercolor panel on top after I rounded the corners.

Here's a little video showing how it works.

A Different Fall Color Palette

Hi, welcome back!

Whenever we talk about Fall Colors I usually automatically think of the falling leaves and their tremendous colors, the yellows, the oranges, and the reds.  But this year I am also quite intrigued by the purple and green combination from this Fall harvest vegetable.

Here's my project inspired by the colors.

For embossed background, I took some white embossing paste and added a few drops of Glimmer Metallic Gold Ink and some Perfect Pearl powder and mix together to create a unique color embossing paste.  I stencilled using Simon Says Stamp Mesh Stencil.

While that dries, I stamped the largest image from the Simon Says Stamp Earth Has Music with Jet Black Archival Ink on multi media paper, and watercolored.  I coated the green flower portion with some twinkling watercolor for some shine.

"HBD" is stamped using Seedless Preserves and hand cut along with the feather image.  Once my background panel is completely dry I adhered it to a purple card base, then used foam adhesive to glue the handcut pieces on top.

Simon Says Stamp Flickr One Layer Challenge

Hello everybody,

I am so excited about today's post, I am invited to be a Guest Designer for the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #129, the theme is: One Layer.  This challenge starts Friday August 2nd and ends Thursday August 15th, 9:00am EDT.  Check details here.

Birthday and Christmas are two occasions I make most cards for, and I send them often via snail mail. So one layer cards are best to avoid bulkiness.  Now having that said, one does not need to sacrifice style to have a one layer card.  With some careful planning, a one layer card can be as pretty as a layered card.

I created two cards today.  The first one is a birthday card.

I masked the center and lower half of the card, stamped Simon Says Stamp Center Cut Flower in Archival Jet Black ink using my MISTI.  Then turn the card around, masked the center and the other
half of card and repeat the stamping.

Then I drew the lines in the center of the card to make it looks like a banner.  I stamped the sentifment in black and then the thick dotted lines in soft grey.

The flowers are watercolored, the centers are dotted with Onyx Pearl Liquid Pearl, the decorative dots along the leaves are dotted with White Opal Liquid Pearl.

I also stamped a matching envelope in Soft Grey.

For the my second card I made a Christmas card but in a less traditional color scheme.

To make this card, I started by making a dry impression using Simon Says Stamp Wavy Scallop Stitched Die on a white card base with silicone mat underneath the card base.  But I placed a light weight card stock on top of the card (but under the cutting die) when I pass it thru the die cut machine.  This way the light weight card stock is cut thru at the same position and I used it to doing masking.

Next I stamped the flower and leaves and colored with pencils.  Then I masked the lower part of the card starting at the stitch line, and stamped the plaid pattern in Tumbled Glass, Peeled Paint, and Picked Raspberry.

Then I masked the scallop area and used an ink applying tool to apply Peeled Paint (this step I didn't take photo).

The sentiment is stamped in black.  And for I splattered some Perfect Pearl solution all over.

I hope you enjoy my cards.  Come on over to flickr and play along with us.  Link here.

Faux stitched rainbow background

Hi everyone, hope you're enjoying the weekend!

I've got a colorful card to share today.

To create the background I masked and inked each color onto a white card panel, then splashed some water drops onto the panel before the distress inks dry.  Next I stamped the stitches in black, and then splattered some white acrylic paint. Then adhered my die cut pieces, black ones on white ones in an off set fashion.  Lastly I stamp the 'hi' in black.  And the whole panel goes onto a white card base.

Challenges:

Supplies

Ranger Distress Ink (Barn Door, Wild Honey, Squeezed Lemonade, Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass)
Memento Dye Ink (Tuxedo Black)
White Acrylic Paint

Thanks for visiting.  I wish you a rainbow color kinda day!!

Wedding Floral

Hi,

I've got a Floral Wedding card to share.  I have been practicing on how to loosely water color floral images.  But before I could master the technique, I found another way to create the look.

I thought the flowers on this card turned out very nicely.

To create my card, I first watercolor a whole card panel and then I stamped the flower images.

As you can see the flower has some basic loose water colors on them,  but they need some more colors.

Could see the subtle difference?  Next I hand cut them all out.

Then I layered them onto my card base on which I'd already glued a minty green Woodland Rectangular Frame die cut with matching white heat embossed the sentiment banner.  And I add a bit of Diamond Stickle in the center of the flowers.
