Holiday Greenery and Cardinal on a2z

Happy Monday,

It is the first day of Autumn, that means my gardening chores would include Fall planting and tidying up for the season.  Speaking of gardening, there is a family of Northern Cardinals in the neighborhood, and this past summer one of them would come play 'hide and seek' with me.  It would chip and sing when I work in the garden, I hear it (yes it comes often enough that I reconize its voice), but I couldn't see it.  And finally when I do, it flys away, needless to say I couldn't take a photo fast enough.  But I do have have a snap shot when it actually stop by my deck one time.

And this fun 'hide and seek' game it plays with me inspired my card on a2z Scrapbooking today.

The photo looks like it is out of focus, but the layers are made to be a bit fuzzy, just like when you try to spot a bird in the trees!!   LOL  I die cut Holiday Greenery Edge twice each using three shades of green/blue card stock, and glued each two layers in an offset fashion.  Then I layered them on to a white card base and tuck the cardinal in between the layers.

To keep the same scheme, I die cut 'holidays' in white and red and glued them in an offset fashion as well.  To embellish I use 1/8 inch hole punch and punched out some 'red berries' and glue them on the the greeneries, and top with Candy Cane stickles.  I also added Star Dust stickles to some of the leaves.  The 'happy' is white heat embossed.

There is still time to play our September challenge - Anything Goes.  I hope I've inspired you to play along.

And the September sale at a2z store is still on.  Do go and check it out.

CAS Pop-up Shadow Box on a2z

Hello everybody!!

August is here and so is a new challenge on a2z Scrapbooking.  This month's theme is: Birthday.

For today's project I've created a CAS Pop-up Shadow Box a la Jennifer McGuire.  I been wanting to try her technique ever since I saw this video of hers.

A couple weeks ago while creating projects for the Hero Arts Flickr Group Scramble challenge, I have a piece of alcohol ink panel left over.  It's perfect for my pop-up shadow box card today.

I die cut it using Hero Arts Butterfly Fancy Die.  It is already so bright and colorful, I didn't want other elements to compete with it.  So I went with a CAS design.

Inside the shadow box, I heat embossed Garden Flowers by Lia with Sugar Cube Glitter embossing powder. There is some foiling on the alcohol panel (of which I die cut the butterfly), I reheat the gold embossed sentiment and applied the same foil on it, it picked up just enough to have a 'matching' look.  :)

Hop over to a2z Scrapbooking and see what my team mates created to inspire you, and join in the challenge.

The Butterfly Fancy Die is still available in the a2z store.  Use my promote code Cindy15 when shopping there and get 15% off of any purchases $25 or more (excluding shipping).

Hero Arts Scribble Bold Print Congrats on a2z

Hello there,

Wow we are at the half way point the year!   Hope all is well with you.

It's the first of the month and a new challenge awaits you on a2z Scrapbooking.  July's challenge is:   Sparkle & Shine.

I created a classic CAS card with lots of sparkles for this challenge.

As you know shimmers and sparkles are difficult to photograph, but I managed shooting a close-up so you could see all the sparkly goodness.

To make this card, I first stamped Hero Arts Scribble Bold Print and heat embossed with Sugar Cube Glitter embossing powder on a white card panel that is 1/8 inch smaller than a A2 card base.

Next I die cut three times 'congrats' using Hero Arts Congrats Stamp & Die using 100 lb white card stock, glued the layers together, and gold heat embossed.  To make the embossing more rich looking, I heat embossed it again with Gold Glitter Embossing Powder.

Once everything is set, I adhere the background panel to a white card base, then glued the die cut, and sentiment strip (gold heat embossed on black card stock).  Finally I embellished with a few peachy colored sequins.

Hop over to a2z Scrapbooking and check out the lovely inspirations projects my team mates created for you and play along.

Supplies:

Gold Embossing Powder
Sugar Cube Glitter Embossing Powder
Little Things from Lucy's Cards Sequins - Cataloup

Thanks for visiting today.  Have a lovely day!
