Happy April Fools Challenge

 Happy Sunday everyone!

This month is a very busy month for me because I commited myself to participate in several events.

One of them is a month long challenge name #happyaprilfoolschallenge hosted by Marlene Meijer-van Niekerk in the Art By Marlene Creatives FB group.  Each day there is a prompt and we create using it.

For day 18, our prompt is Bubbles.  I immeidately think of the 'social bubble' that we are currently in during the pandemic.

On a pink/purple tag, I first stenciled a bunch of white circles.  Then I added some blue gloss spray.  From Marlene's die cut book I took the fishes out and intensified the colors with alchohol markers.  I placed them inside the hand-drawn bubbles, then sponged black paint around it and stencil more black circles, and adhered the 'blub' die cuts.

Challenges:

Supplies:

StudioLight Art By Marlene Die Cut Block A5STANSBLOK04 (unfortunately this is discontinued)

30 Day Coloring (Jul10)

So on this day, my project is inspired by a funny sticker I found in the Art By Marlene Sticker Book.

For the background, I put Speckled Egg Distress Paint all over the page, then placed the Art By Marlene (TCW) Botanical Garden Stencil over it and dabbed with a baby wipe.  Some white gesso is then applied using a spatula.  I added some washi tapes and then finally stamped the cakes from Altenew Cake Love Stamp set and watercolored.   Finally I added the sticker(s) and outline them and the page.

Other challenge:

I am off to eat some cake now, see you again tomorrow. :D

30 Day Coloring (Jul06)

I continued on the page I started on day 5, but it just didn't work out.  And I want to keep what was done before,  so a little paper surgery is perform, it is attached to a new panel.

The (new) watercolor paper panel is blended with Crushed Olive, Broken China and Chipped Sapphire.  Then I spritzed Hero Arts' Long Leaves Stencil with water and placed it on top of the inked panel.  Pressed to make sure there was good contact, dabbed some open area, and let dry before removing stencil.

Then I glue this behind the floral half, added sticker from Art By Marlene sticker book.  Outline the floral element and sticker.  Et voila!

Not only is my journal page connected in creativity, I am connected in creativity with many craft friends in the stamping world.  I am blessed!

Thanks for visiting my blog.  See you tomorrow.

May Flower Marlene Challenge

Hi, welcome to my blog!!

In the past 32 days I've taken on a challenge call May Flower Marlene hosted by Jenn Colahan, an Art By Marlene promote team member, over on FB; in a group named Art By Marlene Creatives.

We create using the daily prompt and share our work.  Of course, as titled, flower is key, and we must use Art By Marlene products as the focal elements.

I decided to make a mini book, one page for each prompt except the mid point of the book was a double page.  I struggled with many prompts, but I didn't give up.  Today is the last prompt: Floral Cover, instead of a page inside the book, I work on the cover for this book.  It is all finished and I am quite happy with the result.

Front Cover

Back Cover

A quick flip thru the book to show all the pages.

The cover is die cut using a book die: STENCILBM04, but the content is a bit thick, so I did a little 'surgery' and extended the book bind so the cover is wide enough to cover all the pages.

This the original size of the outer die cut.

I cut out the small flap, then cut down the middle of the book shape, and use the small flap as the bind the two covers.  You could see it in the photos below.

Art Journaling 2019-Oct-31

Hello there,

For those of you who have visited my blog before, you know I am more a 'clean and layer' style card maker.  So I really gone out of my comfort zone when I took an art journal/multi-media class at my LSS last week.  I shared my class projects on this post.

Today I worked a double page layout.  These two pages started out as 'stamp off'' pages.  To complete them, I layered watercolor over, and added Art By Marlene pattern rice paper and doodled a border.   I feel like I want to add to it, but not sure what yet.  I'll leave it for another day!!

The "&" sign is stamped on some empty area of the rice paper then torn out, the 'let your inner art out' is hand written, other then the doodled border, the rest of the images are torn from the rice paper and adhere to the page using a medium gel.

Supplies:

Art By Marlene Rice Paper by Studio Light
Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set
Pigma Micron Archival Marker
Archival Jet Black Ink
My Mind's Eye Cambridge Court Clear stamp
Liquitex Acrylic Medium Gel

Thanks for visiting.  I wish you a fun day!
