A Card Inspired by Lunar New Year

Happy Lunar New Year of the Snake!

Today I found time to play, and created a card inspired the Chinese dress button.

Since it is the Lunar New Year, I used various shades of red on my card, and of course gold shimmer is a must.

I cute strips of red card stock and did some basic quilling to form the button.

I need a lot more practice, but am happy with today's result.  The front scalloped panel is stamped using an old Stampin' Up woodblock stamp called Boho Blooms.

I am going to link up to:

Supplies:

Stamperia Dye Ink (Burgundy)
Hero Arts Shadow Ink (Soft Granite)

Thanks for visiting.  Have a happy day!

Woodblock Wednesday Jan 2023

 Hi,

I am joining Amy Tsuruta for Woodblock Wednesday today.  I used one of my oldest woodblock stamp (Floating Hearts) sent to me by Hero Arts after I entered their 'mail-in' card challenge even though I didn't win.  Their kind act encouraged me to keep on trying.

I created the main panel with heat embossing, watercoloring, and masking; and matted it with a couple layer of card stock.  Very simple.  But I did add a coat of glossy accent on the red heart.

Woodblock I used are:

Hero Arts Floating Hearts F2818
Hero Arts Old Letter Writing S4878

Other supplies includes:
Hero Arts Mid-tone Shadow ink (Wet Cement)
Versamark Watermark Ink
Brass Embossing Powder
Glossy Accent

Thanks for coming over to my blog.  Have a very good day!!

Woodblock Wednesday 2022-12-07

Hi, I am joining Amy Tsuruta for another Woodblock Wednesday episode.  My 4 x 4 inch square card features Hero Arts Flourish Ornament R5276 (year 2009), and a stamp from a company called Raindrops on Roses (year 2002).

I used a Darice Sheet Music embossing folder to stamp the background panel with dye ink (Pinkfresh Warm Buff).  The branch stamped with distress ink (Ranger Peeled Paint) and details added with coloring pencils (Prismascolors).  The edges are distressed with dye ink (Pink Fresh Warm Buff & Doe). The ornament is gold heat embossed, and ink blended with distress ink (Ranger Lumberjack Plaid), then hand cut.  I tied some Altenew Antique Gold thread and then adhered it to the card front with foam adhesive.

Go over to Amy's blog to get full details of this challenge.

By the way  this is a shot of my humble woodblock stamp collection.

Have a wonderful day!

Woodblock Wednesday

 Happy Hump day!

I am joining Amy Tsuruta today to give some inky love to our woodblock stamp.

My project features two woodblock stamp by Hero Arts.  Little Greetings Holidays (LL516) and Sleeping Fox by Lia (D6109).  Of course I added newer clear stamp to the mix.

The arche card base is first die cut, then I dry embossed the front panel.  I added a Antique Gold arche die cut to frame the poinsettia, and the Sleeping Fox.

The Sleeping Fox is stamped with archival Acorn on a piece ink smooshed panel spritzed with Gold mica spray.  And I hand cut it.

Do you have any woodblock stamp in your stash?  May be it's time to dust them off and ink them up.

For more information, check this FB post.
