Creations Scrapbook Centrale Creative Team Project 2024-Apr-16

 Happy Tuesday everyone,

I am very excited to share my art journaling page today because I tried a very fun technique called 'toilet paper casting'.  Do a search on YouTube, there are plenty videos to inspire you.

This is my team project for the Creations Scrapbook Centrale FB group.  Our April challenge theme is The Ocean/Sea Mysteries, and/or the color: Turquois.

I started my page by spraying some Ocean Gloss Spray, then I used Turquois Scribble Stick to add some more colors, then I stenciled with Blue Lagoon Shimmer Paint.  Next I added some Round Art washi tape, then I stenciled with Crackle Paste.

Uh oh, here comes a problem, the crackle paste did not stick on the surface of the washi.  After the paste dried, all the ones overlay the washi tape fell off!  So I stamped some text with black archival ink and carried on.  I hand cut the sea horses from patterned paper, and adhere them with gel medium.  Then stamped the sentiment with archival ink.

Next come the very fun part of the project.  Yes, the toilet paper casting.  I used a large sea shell I collected from a past trip.  After layered the toilet paper (spritzed with water each time, and pound with a blunt brush) over the top of the shell, I let it dry overnight.

I peeled off the casting and this is what I found:

The details are quite nice.  But wait, the underside is even better.

I trimmed the excess paper from the edges, and splattered some  Aquamarine and Gold Pearl metallic watercolor on it.  Then I glue it on the page with a real pearl on it.  I was going to use an art pearl, but didn't have one that size.  So I used one I took off from a bracelet too large from my wrist.

Et voila!

I absolutely love how this page turned out even with the little mishap along the way.

The supplies I used are shown in the photos below (except the Altenew Metallic Watercolor):

Guest Designer Post on Scrapbook Centrale

 Hi everyone,

I am super excited today being Guest Designer for our inspiration team at the local stamp store:  Scrapbook Centrale.  We have a monthly challenge, and our theme this month is: Fantastique/Fantastic.

Earlier in the year, I took a cruise named In Search Of the Northern Lights.  And yes I did see the Northern Lights, but unfortunately not as colorful as the ones you may have seen on TV.

So my inspiration of the project is to recreate that magic moment on my trip which I would call Fantastique!

To create the background, I used various ink sprays on black card stock, while masking and using sponge to move the colors in certain directions.  Then I splattered white paint.

While the background panel dries, I die cut pine trees in black card stock. I inked a few of them very lightly in white, then trimmed them to different heights and adhered to the dried panel creating a bit of depth.

Supplies for my project:

Thanks for coming over.  Have a fantastic day!!

Happy April Fools Challenge

 Happy Sunday everyone!

This month is a very busy month for me because I commited myself to participate in several events.

One of them is a month long challenge name #happyaprilfoolschallenge hosted by Marlene Meijer-van Niekerk in the Art By Marlene Creatives FB group.  Each day there is a prompt and we create using it.

For day 18, our prompt is Bubbles.  I immeidately think of the 'social bubble' that we are currently in during the pandemic.

On a pink/purple tag, I first stenciled a bunch of white circles.  Then I added some blue gloss spray.  From Marlene's die cut book I took the fishes out and intensified the colors with alchohol markers.  I placed them inside the hand-drawn bubbles, then sponged black paint around it and stencil more black circles, and adhered the 'blub' die cuts.

Challenges:

Supplies:

StudioLight Art By Marlene Die Cut Block A5STANSBLOK04 (unfortunately this is discontinued)
Acrylic Paint (White, Black)
Copic Markers

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy a great day!

New Year, New Me

Hi,

I think I got the mixed media bug!!  Yup made another mixed media project, a card panel that would go into my art journal.

I started with a layer of stamping (of script) in Acorn archival ink, then applied media gloss spray.  This however covered the stamping.  After the panel dried, I did some partial stenciling with embossing paste.  Next I applied more media gloss spray, and stamped 'new year, new me', adhere butterfly which was stamped in black and hand cut.  Lastly I added sticker quotation.

Hello and welcome back.

Yesterday I posted my mix media canvas project, and after looking at it the whole evening, I just find it a little flat.  So I added a second layer to a couple elements and it looks much better.  And also sun light helps!!

Mix Media Canvas Wall Art

Hello, hello!

Over the holiday season I got some (new to me) gloss spray for my mix media projects.  And today I created a mix media canvas wall art.

On a 8 x 10 inch canvas, I first covered it with matte medium and book print.  Then I went on and layered with some paint, did some lifting with stencil, added some gloss spray, and stencil with embossing paste.  Next I added some Round Art washi tape.  At this point I thought I would stamp and die cut a bunch of leaves and flowers for the focal point.  But it didn't work.  So I took out a piece of pretty paper that I've been saving and cut it up and glue to my canvas.  The colors worked well with the background and I am happy how it turned out.  Here's a close up showing some details.

I added some glacier paste on the bird and flower petals.  And stamped in black archival ink one of favorite sentiment from the Altenew Dot Botanical Stamp set:
Strive To Find Beauty In Every Situtation.

Art Journal Class with Tracy Scott

Hi everybody, hope you're enjoying your day!

Yesterday I attended an Art Journal Class at a local craft supply store (Scrapbook Centrale), and Tracy Scott is the instructor!!  We had a fantastic class, the title of the class is Fast and Fabulous Journaling.

No we didn't have to work fast, it was relaxing and she is gentle and sweet.  She gave us very clear instructions and plenty time to complete the steps before moving on.  I had a wonderful time!!  And of course I want to share what I did.  You ready?

I did three double pages.  I haven't done anything quite like it before and I look forward to do more!!  Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day!
