Christmas Cards 2018-Jun-10

Oh my I can't remember how long it's been since I made a card for my Christmas card stash?!  But that's going to change because I made one today.  I am inspired by Linda W. with this beautiful card, and I am CASEing her.

I have inherited a collection of these small cards (from my late mother-in-law).

And I wasn't sure what to do with them.  But I thought it would be great to use it for

So here's my card:

Christmas Cards 2018-mar-09

Yay!  Another addition to my Christmas cards stash.

I am inspired by the stars, and the topiaries and the splash of red on the table from this Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #280 - Inspiration photo.

And this is what I came up with:

I die cut an extra piece using dark green card stock and layered it behind the Layered Topiary so give it some visual dimension.  Although it's hard to see I added some Stickles to the stars located in the center of the pattern paper panel, of course the red stars that adorn the topiary.

I think the Layered Topiary set is great for multiple occasions and holidays.  I could trim it like a Christmas tree, I could dress it up for Easter and Halloween, ..hmmm the possibilities!!

Christmas Cards 2018-mar-01

Welcome back to my blog,

This is my second post of the day, to see my a2z March Challenge inspiration post, click here.

It's been a couple weeks since I last worked on my Christmas card stash, I thought I shouldn't wait any longer.  Plus the inspiration photo the Merry Monday Christmas challenge #279 is so pretty, it is easy to get inspired.

I used the poinsettia cling stamp from Impression Obsession and a Tim Holtz
Florish embossing folder for my card.  The sentiment is from Penny Black.

After I embossed my white card panel I gently apply Peeled Paint over the raised area.  The sentiment is stamped in Peeled Paint as well.  The poinsettia is stamped in black and inked with Ripe Persimmon and Barn Door, and hand cut.  For the flower center I added some Platinum Stickles.

I must say I am quite happy how these turned out and it is not overly complicated.  As you can see, I made several of them!!

And I am also linking up to a new found challenge blog:

Christmas Cards 2018-feb-04

This week's Merry Monday Christmas challenge theme is Pastel, and it stumped me.  I did the background in some pastel shades but for the main focal element, I was having some trouble.  But.. paint swatches came to the rescue!  LOL  I picked up some paint swatches some time ago and it is just perfect for my bauble.

Christmas Cards 2018-jan-26

Happy Friday!!

The weekend is just around the corner, I bet you're looking forward to a crafty weekend.

I got a head start today and made a couple Christmas cards (same design).

Very CAS.   I stamped and white heat embossed (Let It Snow from Winnie & Walter) then used inking tool to sponge Tumbled Glass and Broken China right on the white card base.  Then I adhered the snowman (Frosty Wishes from Hero Arts) which is stamped in Tuxedo Black, it's nose colored using coloring pencils, fussy cut and embellished with a ribbon scarf.  The "Snow much joy" is stamped and clear heat emboss (Playful Lowercase from Hero Arts) on a speech bubble die cut (Stamp & Cut Yes from Hero Arts) and adhered using foam tape.

Usually I'd create a ground for the snowman, but today I used the edge of the card instead.  I trimmed a tiny bit off the bottom of the snowman and align it with the card base.

This card is really mail friendly, since it is quite flat.

Christmas Cards 2017-apr-24

Happy Monday,

It's time to play and to add to my Christmas card stash.  I make two cards today.

First up, gold heat embossed Hero Arts Stunning Snowflakes on kraft CS, die cut and layered over card base stamped with Winnie & Walter's Let It Snow using Hero Arts Ombre Vintage Metallic ink.  The gold embossed snowflake on kraft does not stand out so I thought I'd add color to make embossing popped, but it didn't.  So I die cut the center out and use vellum for the sentiment placeed behind the opening.

Next, a shaped card, basic white heat embossed Hero Arts Stunning Snowflakes on kraft and die cut.  But I need a way to add a sentiment, so I used the cut out from my first card and layered it on top.  I used a white gel pen to add some dots to add interests.

Here's a look of both together.
