30 Day Coloring (Jul16)

Today I played with alcohol ink and stencil, inspired by Tim Holtz in his Q+A demo: Alcohol Ink - Part 2.

I used Simon Say Stamps Harvest Stencil, and these alcohol inks:  Water Melon, Sunset Orange, Sunshine Yellow, Lettuce, Stream and Cranberry.

I think I might have sprayed too much alcohol ink in the first print, the stencil design is not very definite, and the second print was not even.  I did however really like the third print (onto mixed media paper), and it was fun to soak up the rest of the ink using my larger art journal book.  I just kept reactivating the ink with alcohol and soak up.

Here's a look at them:

And of course the bonus is now I have a very pretty looking, rainbow inked stencil!

However, since my mini art journal is made with mix media paper, the alcohol ink is absorbed thru and thru and it show up on my previous page (for day 15).

But it works, as a manner of fact, it added to the page.  It looks like wind blown flower petals in the background!!

Now how shall use the alcohol inked panel?!

It shall be revealed tomorrow.  See you then.

How cool is this? Love your alcohol ink stenciling, Cindy!! Fun to try new techniques isn't it? I'll have to give that one a go so I don't keep repeating the same thing :) Nice addition to your journal page even if unintentional!!
