Butterfly Birthdays on a2z

Happy July 1st!!  And to all my Canadian friends Happy Canada's Day!!!

How fitting it is that the a2z Scrapbooking July Challenge theme is Birthday Bash

This theme is perfect for today and the up coming Independence Day in the United States.  So without further ado, let's see my cards.

I used the Delicate Petals stencil and distress ink to create my background.

Next I stamp the base layer of the Color Layering Butterflies in Red Royal, then the next pattern layer in Pearl Acrylic Paint.  But when I lift the stamp up, it had actually lift some of the paper out.  So to recover I used a small brush to paint the pattern instead.  You can see in this photo, the right side shows the paper lift out, the left side is after I touched up with the brush.

I was having so much fun, I created a second card but this time with just distress ink and Wink of Stella.

The background colors are slightly different.  But I love how it turned out.  Here's a close up.

And the beauty shot.

I love the open space for the butterfly in the stencil - it makes it look like a glide path (in a good way). Both butterflies are beautiful. I love recovery cards. :)

Nice Cindy! Those butterflies look really nice and that background kind of creates movement.
